Summer was first unsure of what is so-called as love. She thought “there’s no love, just fantasy”. Tom was the opposite. He believed in love. But near the end of the story, they believe the opposite thing. Summer decides to marry, while Tom is still working on his dream to be an architect. The irony of the “love” here is so obvious when it is told with the splitscreen, so we can see the contrast of the two.
